In the formal process, the Title IX Office at UVA investigates what happened and may charge the other student with violating UVA's Sexual Misconduct Policy.
If the other student is found responsible for violating the Policy, they will face formal sanctions.
- In cases of sexual assault, suspension or expulsion is a likely outcome.
If you are interested in pursuing a formal investigation, the Title IX Office will schedule a meeting with you to formally review your rights and options. The Title IX Office also will schedule an interview between you and one of their trained investigators.
